LEENY SACK

Leeny Sack has performed and taught extensively throughout the U.S., Europe and in Asia. Both her teaching/counseling and performance art focus on relationships of art and healing, and on accessing the creative unconscious.

She was on the faculty of New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, Experimental Theatre Wing for seven years, was a founder and director for twelve years of Pangea Farm, retreat center for contemplative and performing arts, and for eighteen years co-led the annual Art of Presence retreats at the Buddhistisches Zentrum, Austria. After studies at The Juilliard School, she became a member of Richard Schechner's The Performance Group. In 1989 she was certified as a Master Teacher of Kinetic Awareness.

Her performance works include the critically acclaimed, The Survivor and The Translator: a solo theatre work about not having experienced the Holocaust, by a daughter of concentration camp survivors , as well as Our Lady of the Hidden Agenda, Straight Man, PATIENT / ARTIST , and THOUGHT CLOUDS and MULTIPLE CHOICE. In addition to performing and visual artists, her students have included psychotherapists, physicians, health care practitioners, business professionals, educators, and others interested in self-research and healing.

Her studio, Physika Arts, just outside of Ithaca, NY, is where she resides, conducts individual and small group workshop-retreats, and makes new work.
